Can You Get the Flu from the Flu Shot?

Have you ever heard of the Spanish Influenza? If not, that was a worldwide flu epidemic that killed more than 50 million people in 1918 and 1919. This is what you might consider the mother of all flus. That is because every worldwide epidemic of Influenza A since then, and in fact almost all Influenza A outbreaks, have been genetically linked to the Spanish Influenza. Scientists still do not completely understand why the influenza of 1918 and 1919 was so deadly, however, they are concerned that similarly powerful strains could arise again. Additionally, even a weaker strain of flu is capable of rendering a majority of older, younger, and chronically ill Americans extremely ill; it can even be fatal. That is why the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that everyone from the age of 6 months old and older receive a flu vaccine every year.
